How Are Remould Tyres Made?
Remould tyres are made by reusing the main structure of a worn tyre, known as the carcass, and applying a new tread pattern.
The process typically involves:
- Inspecting the used tyre to ensure it is structurally sound
- Removing the worn tread
- Applying new rubber
- Moulding a fresh tread and sidewall onto the tyre
This allows manufacturers to produce tyres more cheaply by reusing discarded materials. The quality of a remould tyre depends on the carcass condition and manufacturing process. Modern remoulded tyres must meet strict safety standards in the UK and Europe.
