Ford has totally distracted from that when they unveiled their frankly monstrous Ford Raptor T1+ to conquer the legendary Dakar!
This isn’t your average truck. The Ford Raptor T1+ boasts a race-spec, 5.0-liter V8 engine with a dry-sump lube system. It was developed with Ford’s performance partner, M-Sport. While FIA regulations restrict horsepower to around 400bhp in the T1+ class, the throaty roar of this engine promises an exhilarating experience.
More Than Just Power
But the Raptor T1+ isn’t just about power. It’s built to tackle the harshest terrains. Fox supplies the suspension. And it features a sophisticated double-wishbone setup at both the front and rear. Adjustable dampers with remote reservoirs ensure optimal performance on any surface. Meanwhile the massive BFGoodrich 37-inch tires wrapped around 17-inch alloy wheels provide exceptional grip.
For maximum stopping power, Alcon supplies ventilated 355mm discs with six-piston callipers on both axles. Durability is key in the unforgiving Dakar Rally. The Ford Raptor T1+ utilizes a T45 steel spaceframe for a rock-solid foundation. In addition, lightweight carbon fibre body panels keep the overall weight to a minimum.

The aggressive design reflects the truck’s capabilities. The iconic Ford grille, looking right at home even on this beast, complements the wide fenders and the striking Red Bull livery.
